Building a Daily Trivia App: My First Steps with Glide and AI

 

As seniors, it’s easy to forget little things in our daily lives. I wanted a fun, practical way to exercise memory every day, not just for myself, but for friends and family too. So, I decided to create a Daily Trivia Companion App — and here’s how it went!

Step 1: Prepare the Data

I started with Google Sheets, which acts like the brain of the app. I created a sheet called “Daily Trivia Companion Data” and added columns for:

• Date

• Category (Health, Tech, Nostalgia…)

• Question

• Options (A, B, C, D)

• Correct Answer

• Fun Fact

After adding a few sample trivia questions, the sheet was ready to be connected to Glide.

Step 2: Create the App with Glide

Glide is amazing because you don’t need to know coding. I simply:

1. Opened Glide → created a new project from my Google Sheet

2. Checked that all four tabs (Trivia, MedicalHealth, Settings, Users) imported correctly

3. Designed the Trivia screen for easy reading — large fonts, clear buttons, and a “Reveal Answer” feature

4. Previewed the app on my laptop

Step 3: See it on My Phone

The most exciting part — I opened the app on my Android phone! After refreshing, the trivia questions appeared perfectly, just like on my laptop. Now I can enjoy daily trivia anywhere.最佳智慧型手機

What’s Next

In future, I can add features like:

• A Memory Journal where users can record answers or reflections

• Tracking which questions I remembered or forgot

• Possibly notifications to remind me to do the daily trivia
