There is a saying that learning never stops. Even after retirement, we can continue to grow. Over the past year, I have discovered something that has completely changed the way I learn, work, and even think. That something is ChatGPT.
Recently, Julie smiled at me and said, "You are getting smarter."
I laughed.
Perhaps she was right.
Not because my IQ suddenly increased, but because I now have a very intelligent companion with me wherever I go.
Years ago, if I wanted to write a blog post, I would pack my laptop, drive to the shopping mall, buy a cup of coffee, find a quiet corner, and begin writing. It was something I enjoyed doing. I felt productive and creative.
Today, everything has changed.
I still go to the mall. I still enjoy my morning coffee. But instead of carrying a laptop, I simply take out my cellphone.
Within seconds, I can begin writing.
If I cannot find the right words, ChatGPT helps me.
If I need to organize my thoughts, ChatGPT helps me.
If I need information, an explanation, or even a translation, ChatGPT is ready immediately.
It feels like having a knowledgeable friend sitting across the table, always willing to help.
What amazes me most is not that ChatGPT gives answers. It is that it helps me think more clearly.
Sometimes I have only a rough idea in my mind. After discussing it with ChatGPT, that idea becomes a complete blog post. Sometimes I encounter a problem with my phone, my bank app, or my computer. Instead of spending hours searching the Internet, I simply ask ChatGPT. Most of the time, I receive a clear explanation within minutes.
Life becomes easier.
Tasks that once seemed difficult now feel manageable.
Instead of feeling frustrated by technology, I feel encouraged to learn something new every day.
Many people worry that AI will replace human thinking.
My experience has been the opposite.
ChatGPT has encouraged me to think more, write more, read more, and stay curious. It has given me the confidence to try new things that I might have avoided in the past.
As a retiree, I never imagined that I would be writing blog posts on my phone, creating articles for AI123.ca, sharing stories on social media, and communicating with readers around the world.
Technology has not made me less active.
It has made me more active.
I still enjoy walking through Hillcrest Mall or Markville Mall with a cup of coffee in my hand. The only difference is that now, inspiration can become a published article before I even finish my coffee.
That is a wonderful feeling.
So, has ChatGPT made me smarter?
Maybe not in the traditional sense.
But it has certainly made me a better learner, a more confident writer, and a happier retiree.
For that, I am truly grateful.
If you have never tried using ChatGPT, I encourage you to give it a chance. You do not need to be a computer expert. Just be curious.
You may discover, as I did, that learning has no age limit—and that a simple conversation with AI can open the door to a whole new world.
