Step Five: Headings

Headings show the hierarchy for your content.

H1 is your header, the main heading, and usually the most significant font size.

  • There should be only one H1 for each page. The keywords on the blog page are the largest situated at the top. That is the blog title. The main title content. It sums up and tells the search engine what the page is about.
  • H1 should be used only ONCE in a post.

H2 is for sub-headings

  • The H2 keywords are a little bit smaller in size compared with H1. They are the main points of the content. For organic traffic purposes, use similar and related keywords to the H1. Each H2 heading will include the main keywords but offer a particular focus.

H3 is for sub-topics of H2.

  • They are in the subcategories in blog content, making it easily scannable by the search engines; it loves organic traffic stuff.
