This morning in Toronto, the weather was still lousy. Snow warnings continued, and everything outside looked white, cold, and slow.
And yet, I felt good. Even lucky.
I had just received my senior driving licence—right on time. That alone brought a quiet sense of relief. These tests always carry a bit of pressure, no matter how calm we try to be. Passing it reminded me that preparation, patience, and a steady mind still matter more than age.
With snow piling up, it was time for shoveling. Fortunately, I now have a new Greenworks snow shovel. It’s powerful, easy to operate, and honestly makes the task enjoyable. Instead of seeing snow as a burden, I treated it as light exercise, fresh air, and a chance to feel useful. The right tool really does change the experience.
After coming back inside, warm and settled, another thought stayed with me:
When I want to write, I have an AI companion.
That simple fact has changed how writing fits into my life.
I no longer feel the need to force myself to write every day. There’s no pressure to be productive or to publish something “important.” When a thought comes, I sit down calmly, open my laptop, and start a conversation. The AI helps organize ideas, smooth out language, and reduce friction. I bring the life experience, judgment, and personal voice.
Writing no longer feels like work.
It feels like thinking—just clearer and more relaxed.
This balance is something I’ve come to appreciate deeply. Driving with confidence. Handling snow with the right tool. Writing when the mood arrives, supported but not rushed. These are small things, but together they create a sense of steadiness.
Technology doesn’t need to push us to move faster. Used well, it can help us slow down, focus, and enjoy the process.
On a snowy morning like this, that feels just right.
